Lauren & Al’s Chateau Vaudreuil Wedding

I first met Lauren and Al just over a year ago at their home in Cornwall, where we talked about their vision for their wedding this June.¬† Actually, during that first meeting, Al spent most of his time outside while Lauren, her mom and I sat in the kitchen talking about the dress, the shoes, the ceremony and all things wedding ūüôā¬† Despite¬†Al’s initial¬†shyness, I was able to see his fun, goofy and endearing side during the engagement session that we shot at Cooper’s Marsh last June… and his willingness to put his camera-shyness (is that a word??) behind him to make Lauren happy truly let me appreciate the love that they had for each other.

Lauren had meticulously planned every last detail of her¬†romantic Ch√Ęteau Vaudreuil¬†wedding,¬†right down to the outdoor ceremony under the gazebo by the water… but with an overcast day and the threat of rain, we waited literally until the last possible moment to find out if the ceremony would have to be moved due to rain.¬† Thankfully, the rain held off¬† and although the temperature was cool, the warmth and love of everyone in attendance¬†made the¬†outdoor ceremony perfect.

Lauren and Al wanted fun group shots on the beautiful grounds of Ch√Ęteau Vaudreuil, so I must¬†give a BIG shout out of appreciation to the entire bridal party for toughing out the chilly weather (especially the girls in their very short dresses!!) and for running, jumping and doing pretty much whatever was asked of them to make Lauren & Al’s day unforgettable.¬†¬†After the portrait session,¬†we moved inside to a fairytale purple extravaganza, with the flowers and decor provided by Tying The Knot¬†from Cornwall.¬†¬†The intimate celebration of family and friends was filled with some heartfelt speeches – and some hilarious home videos that had everyone in stiches!¬†¬†There were so many¬†happy tears that¬†the staff at Ch√Ęteau Vaudreuil must have been scrambling to refill the Kleenex boxes!!

Here are a few of my favorite shots from Lauren & Al’s perfect day:

Erin’s Montreal Maternity Session

I first met Erin in June of 2011, at the opening of Baking Sweet, her sister-in-law’s bakery on the west island – which, by the way,¬†has THE best cupcakes ever (My favorite are the red velvet with cream cheese icing).¬† I liked Erin right away.¬† She’s one of those people that is so full of positive energy that she practically radiates happiness.¬† I just wanted to hug her!¬† Erin had seen the photos I had done of her friends’¬†Jordana & Tom’s wedding¬†in December of 2010 and told me at the opening that she wanted to do a shoot with me… sometime.

Fast-forward to December of 2011 and I received an exuberant e-mail from Erin¬†with the happy news that she was 4 months pregnant and wanted to book a maternity session right away!¬† Of course, the best time to do a maternity session is at about the 7th to 8th month of pregnancy when the baby bump would be evident in the photos, so we had to wait a few months before we could actually do the shoot… but we e-mailed back and forth for the next several months, planning every last detail.¬†¬†I LOVE it when clients are¬†as excited as Erin was about a session… despite the fact that it puts a ton of extra pressure on me to live up to the anticipation and make the experience AWESOME!

We finally settled on May 20th and since Erin wanted to include both her husband Jordan and their newly adopted dog Fendi, we decided to do the session at the dog-friendly Morgan Arboretum in Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue.¬† Last night I met with Erin, Jordan and Fendi to present the final collection of images from our maternity session and since today is Erin’s baby shower, I thought it would be a good time to share some of my favorite images here:¬†

Congratulations again Erin¬†& Jordan!¬† After spending a day with you, seeing how attentive¬†and loving you are¬†towards each other, and sharing in a little¬†of your joy, ¬†I know you are going to be really, really amazing parents.¬† I can’t wait to meet your precious little bundle when he or she arrives next month!!¬† And remember that Fendi is always welcome too – I think I’m a little in love with her¬†ūüôā

This is such a good idea ūüôā We all have these crazy good cameras and don’t know how to take advantage of the great photos they can take!

Baby Alaric | Montreal Baby Photographer

On January 3rd, just as I was preparing for my planned maternity session with Felicity, she called me unexpectedly.¬† “I’m really sorry,” she began, “but I won’t be able to do the maternity session with you because I don’t have a belly anymore… I have a baby boy now!”¬† Alaric was born almost a month prematurely on December 31st.¬† Clearly he was anxious to get here in time for the New Year!

As a Montreal portrait photographer who does a fair share of maternity sessions, I was not surprised that Felicity’s firstborn came a little early.¬† You’d be surprised at how often this happens.¬† While I was disappointed that I was not able to photograph Felicity’s belly, I was thrilled when she asked me to come over and do a¬†newborn session instead.¬† A few days later, when little Alaric was just 10 days old, I headed to¬†his home and spent the day with this sweet little angel… and his favorite cat, Boris Bobo.¬† Boris made several cameo appearances and almost stole the show!¬† In fact, I think I may ask Felicity if I can borrow him for other newborn portrait sessions – he is a GREAT model!!

This evening I had the pleasure of sharing all the images from our session with Felicity, Alex and baby Alaric (who really seemed to enjoy the show!), so now I can share¬†some of my favorite images from¬†Alaric’s newborn¬†session here on the blog.

Enjoy!!
