Winter Family Fun | Montreal Family Photographer

Feeling nostalgic, so wanted to share a few shots from a fun family session I did last year while I was in Wabush for Lindsey & Jason’s winter wedding.  The Brown family and the Maddox family made me feel soooo welcome while I was there that I kind of miss them a little as we get close to the holidays this year.  Merry Christmas to all the amazing people I met in Labrador!

You are so good Victoria! These photos are wonderful.

Little creatures… BIG impact.

MaxTonight we said goodbye to Max.

He was diagnosed with Lymphoma on the weekend. An ultrasound showed that his lymph nodes were enlarged to as much as 3.5 cm (a normal size for a cat is 0.5cm) and he had many other symptoms that supported the diagnosis. Nonetheless, we wanted to give him a chance, so we opted to take him home and try him on Prednizone to see if he would respond, but after being home for two days, he refused to eat, could not keep down the medication, did not leave the bed and lost another 1/2 KG (that’s a LOT for a cat!!).

Tonight we brought him back to the Pierrefonds Animal Hospital where Dr. Erdman took lots of time discussing our options – and Max’s limited life expectancy… so we made the incredibly difficult decision to euthanize him before he started to suffer. I HATE having to make these decisions…

Although this year we have already lost Shadow, Daisy, Doofus and Ben, Max was so one of the most difficult to say goodbye to… He seemed comfortable and alert at the vet. He didn’t look that sick – aside from how bony and shrunken he was from the rapid weight loss… He curled up on my coat and nuzzled his head against my hand as he took his last breath and softly went to sleep.

Max was our sweet little ambassador who always befriended each new cat that we adopted. Rudy (who is a girl) followed Max around from the time she was a kitten – and Max eventually became her “boyfriend”. They were inseparable. Last night, he slept in the bed with me – with his head on Rudy’s belly and her arm around his neck. It was as though they both knew it would be their last night together…

It’s amazing how such little creatures can have such a huge impact an leave such a lasting impression on our lives.  Max will leave a big hole in all of our hearts, two-legged and four-legged friends alike.

Kids at Weddings | Montreal Wedding Photographer

As I was preparing the slideshow for tomorrow’s big reveal of Erin & Andrew’s wedding collection I came across this sequence of images that just makes me smile…

Photographing kids can be challenging under any circumstances, but at a wedding, when I have only a couple of minutes for them to warm up to me enough that I can get that “perfect” shot… well… the outtakes can sometimes be just as endearing as the final result! THESE are the shots that I love to create, because THESE are the images that truly show the kids being who they are – in all their impish silliness 🙂
