A few weeks ago as I was filtering through the spam in my inbox and perusing my morning e-mails, I came across an announcement from CreativeLIVE that got me more excited than the time I peed my pants with Uncle Mitch (which is a whole other story for another day). This time I didn’t pee my pants (I am much more mature now!), but I did squeal with glee.
Jasmine Star, the ultimate wedding photographer and one of my secret idols would be giving a 5-day wedding photography workshop in Seattle from August 25th to 29th and she would be choosing six lucky photographers to participate. The workshop would also be broadcast live on the internet via creativeLIVE, but I decided immediately that I HAD to be there IN PERSON. These kinds of workshops are just not available in Montreal and as far as I know, this would be the first time that Jasmine would allow other photographers to shoot an actual wedding with her. Oh, did I forgot to mention that they are also giving away a free wedding to this lucky couple? Well they are. How cool is that?!
So, to enter the contest, I had to create a 60-second video saying who I am, where I’m from, what I shoot and my question for Jasmine. I had so many ideas for the video, but after reviewing the (nonexistant) special effects budget and realizing that Brad & Angelina were not available on short notice, I had to improvise. I brought all my props, accessories, gear and models over to Stephane Brazeau‘s house to film the epic blockbuster hit. This is what we came up with:
We later decided to add bloopers and comments from some fellow LCC members:
The contest closes today and then early next week they will announce which six photographers will be lucky enough to participate live in Seattle in August.
I have never won anything in my life… Actually that’s not true, I did win a plastic salad bowl in the shape of a leaf at a church social when I was about 15… but surely that doesn’t count in the karmic realm of winning stuff?? If so, I will gladly return that salad bowl for the opportunity to attend Jasmine’s workshop. While I wait to discover my fate, here is a little souvenir of my adventure: Wish me luck!
