2011 – The year in review | Montreal Wedding Photographer

As the first day of 2012 draws to a close, I find myself looking back at 2011 and thinking about all the wonderful people who invited me into their lives to share their special moments with me.   I have photographed boudoir and engagement sessions, weddings, newborns and families, a fundraiser for the Dawson Peace Garden and patients […]

Congratulations Victoria! Your blog is terrific and I had no idea that you had won the 1st prize for Professional Wedding Photographers of Canada – I recognize that place…looks very familiar, perhaps even somewhere in Vaudreuil perhaps. And I love the photo with the baby in the basin alone labelled Herbier – a definite winner. Your work definitely reflects the hard work and dedication that you have spent in the last few years to perfect the art of photography…..Very impressive!

Top Knots – New School of Wedding Photography Contest | Montreal Wedding Photographer

As I mentioned in my last post, it’s not often that I enter photography contests.  I THINK about submitting images often, but when it comes right down to it, I tend to chicken out… or get busy… or come up with a million excuses, because let’s face it – putting yourself out there to be […]

Victoria - May 3, 2011 - 6:34 pm

Steph, we make a GREAT team and I am so excited to know that you’ll have my back as my 2nd shooter this summer. You’re such an awesome photographer yourself that I’m still kind of in shock that I can afford you!! My clients don’t know how lucky they are to get you 🙂

I’m not sure I’ll recognize you without all that extra hair though 😉

Stephane Brazeau - May 3, 2011 - 6:16 pm

Victoria, you kick ass. Can’t wait to 2nd shoot with you this summer, which makes me think I should consider a hair cut and a shave at some point… That will definitely kill my style..

On a more serious note though, you kick ass!

Colleen Reich - May 3, 2011 - 5:50 pm

My fave!

Carole Courbet - May 3, 2011 - 5:49 pm

2011 SPPQ Awards

Since my last post, I’ve been really busy:  Shooting boudoir, meeting with clients for their upcoming weddings, shooting an engagement session, working on a new website, taking a trip to Zephyr to visit friends, shooting some more, catching the latest CreativeLive workshops, spring cleaning and of course… post-processing all those shoots!  I’ve even been mentoring an […]

10×10 Challenge, Shooting Nudes & My 1st Vernissage

In 2007 Stephane Brazeau, a new member of the Lakeshore Camera Club proposed a revolutionary idea for a friendly competition for club members.  It was based on the Naked in the House competition, but since Steph was new and all, he dared not propose that we use nude models!  The LCC version would involve fully […]

Wow. Kudos for being so brave. I think this is an amazing and somewhat terrifying idea! I really like your second photo… the reflection on the window almost makes it look like she has wings you can barely see… Though I couldn’t begin to guess which is your fav. 🙂

A. Rios - September 16, 2010 - 2:18 pm

Amazing! what a great challenge! Your photos are all amazing. I ♥♥♥ the first two.

**…..RELIEVED that the model was a woman… I think I would have spent 30 minutes blushing and looking at the floor if it had been a man…. **

I would’ve run away as fast as possible! : )

Sachin Khona - September 14, 2010 - 6:25 pm

The reflections add to the story, her expression is perfect and the composition you’ve given it works really well..

It’s definitely my favourite shot of the set

Victoria - September 14, 2010 - 5:22 pm

LOL Sachin, you got one out of three! I thought the last shot was OK, the first is the one I really liked and the second (looking out the window) was the experiment… I could only use one lens and no polarizer, so I found the reflections a little distracting, but surprisingly, I got a lot of great feedback about that image and the emotion it evokes.

My mom actually had an entire back story worked out for that window shot: The girl had just broken up with her boyfriend, he drove off in a hurry, she was looking out the window, hoping he would return, lamenting their lost love… Now you know where I get my imagination from 🙂

Sachin Khona - September 14, 2010 - 5:12 pm

Fantastic shots Victoria.. I really love the second one.. Just beautiful

”When it was all over, I had at least one shot that I really, really liked, another that I thought was OK and a third that was an experiment that could have been better excuted… Can you tell which is which?”

Is the experiment the first?
The one you really like the second?
and the one you think is ok the third?

Apologies if im wrong.. just wanted to take a stab at the quiz..

Cant say no to a quiz!!

Take care Victoria!

Tamara Stimpson - September 13, 2010 - 11:16 am

Fabulous images Vic! If you need more practice, I can pose for you at MTGW3!!! ;0)
Keep up the fantastic work and great blogging!!

Morrie - September 12, 2010 - 10:40 pm

Stopped by the Gallery on Saturday and saw all the great shots. Yours (the girl looking through the window) in my opinion was the shot that showed true emotion. I do not know which image won but this was the best in my opinion.

cassandra-m - September 12, 2010 - 9:40 pm

Beautiful…lovely…very powerful images!!!!

Debby - September 12, 2010 - 9:35 pm

WOW! I really loved the first and the third picture! Great job! I think I would have been nervous too

Melissa - September 12, 2010 - 8:27 pm

This is an impressive post and so far outside your typical subjects. My only suggestion for your next challenge would be to start practicing counting to 10 – my kids can help you out if you like! Great job and congratulations again for taking another huge step in your career!
