Welcome Baby Justin :-) | Montreal Newborn Photographer

Let me start by saying that I don’t have children.  It’s not so much that I never wanted children it’s more that I am a complete sissy and the thought of childbirth scares the crap out of me.  Seriously, I need to lie down when I get a blood test and I have to take […]

Hello! Just want to say thank you for this interesting article! =) Peace, Joy.

Tara - February 11, 2011 - 5:04 pm

OK, reading about this has made me wish you could have been there for all three of my babies births… what a beautiful story to capture in pictures, because it all goes by so fast…

Lelia Bartruff - January 18, 2011 - 2:09 pm

What beautiful work Victoria! And it was very brave of you to be there. You put yourself in a totally new experience and captured the love of the moment, not the pain. Congratulations for being brave and taking a risk. It was worth it.

OMG l heart these images….they are truly beautiful!

rachel thurston - December 2, 2010 - 7:44 pm

What a beautiful gift you have given this family. I am honored you were inspired by my work. The moments I have been present at a birth are some of the best moments of my life. No words really do the experience justice…that’s why your images are so powerful. Great work.

Darla - November 28, 2010 - 4:37 pm

Stephane Brazeau - November 26, 2010 - 7:35 am

Superb story Vic! The images you got there are quite impressive. I really like how you were able to capture those key moments that many parents don’t necessarily see while giving birth.

On a technical side, you BW process rocks!

Kim - November 26, 2010 - 6:15 am

Amazing pictures! I kinda wish I had known you when my #3 was born. I aadore the one of Kam holding Karine’s hand… beautiful!

Debby - November 26, 2010 - 5:52 am

Victoria, these pictures are all great! The couple will have a wonderful set of pictures to remember the birth of their son with. Great job!!

Melissa - November 26, 2010 - 12:56 am

Being a mom of two, these pictures make me remember my own labours with my boys and I wish… I WISH.. I had you in the room to document them like this. All the photos of this journey are spectacular but my absolute favorite was the shot of Karine and Kam’s feet. It’s such an expressive shot and you can just tell there is a pause for contraction… and I sooooo remember THAT part! I’m sure these pics will be treasured by the family forever!

Motti Bembaron - November 25, 2010 - 11:58 pm

Hi Vic, very nice idea. Beautiful and candid moments that they will cherish forever.

Serendipity

The past month has been an absolute whirlwind of activity for me and looking back at all that I’ve accomplished – and the path I took to get here, it struck me how sometimes the universe, or God, or Karma or whatever you believe in, just has a way of making things happen in a way that is […]

Motti - November 18, 2010 - 2:05 pm

Very well done! Someone once said that LUCK is spelled W.O.R.K and that the harder he worked the luckier he got.

You are right, we have to be open to opportunities and be open minded.

Keep up the great work!

Motti

MOrrie Portnoff - November 18, 2010 - 12:30 pm

Nothing like a little hard work and talent.

Frederic Hore - November 18, 2010 - 11:18 am

A superb post Victoria, from an affable and positive thinking person. Well done!

I was really impressed with the natural looking fox photo you took at a nature park in Montreal, which garnered you a top 10 position from more that 700 photographic submissions at the SPPQ (Société de Promotion de la Photographie de Quebec) photo competition a few years ago. This appeared to set you on the road to success.

Then we worked together on a photo shoot in May of model Scarlet James at the Hera Bell Studios, where you brought along a simple prop of a luscious red strawberry, that put your images… over the top!

Your inspired creations, are truly creative! I love looking at your work.

Best regards and good luck in your future endeavours.

Cheers,
Frederic

Your recent post goes to show you that you never know what is in store for you & the littlest thing may lead to a huge blessing.

Tamara Stimpson - November 18, 2010 - 9:08 am

Victoria not only is it fate, but your incredible talent and drive to learn more about your profession. Without ALL of these elements, none of this would have happened. You are an amazing woman and photographer and I’m proud to call you a friend!! Keep up the amazing work and keep posting your awesome photos – they inspire all of us (including me…one of the most amature photographers I am sure you know!!!)

Stephane Brazeau - November 18, 2010 - 8:58 am

Nice post Victoria! You are extremely talented and I am so glad we tag along on some of our shoots. There are no doubts your dedication to the craft plays THE major role in your success. The fact you decided to jump head 1st into it shows you have what it takes. When ever I see the images you pull out of our sessions, there are always many of them I wish I would have thought of myself.

I am looking forward for our next outings and feel honored to be considered as part of some of your success.

Ashley & Steven @ Cabane à Sucre Lalande | Montreal Wedding Photographer

I have photographed my fair share of weddings, but at the tender age of 21, Ashley and Stephen are probably the youngest couple whose wedding I have had the pleasure of seeing through my lens.   This lively duo had actually been dating for 7 years before tying the knot and the romance of marrying a “first love” was evident […]

Victoria – that shot with the red converse is just fantastic, love the angle and the crop. Keep it coming we want to see more of your great work on the blog 🙂 Big hugs from Denmark.

Victoria - October 16, 2010 - 6:04 pm

Thanks everyone for the generous and positive feedback! Your comments, along with the smiles on the faces of my clients when I deliver photos, are what keep me motivated!!

Tamara, I JUST renewed my passport for my trip to Seattle in August and it’s good for 5 years, so I am TOTALLY up for travelling to Mexico with you & Greg when you renew your vows!

Tamara Stimpson - October 16, 2010 - 5:44 pm

Okay, you are so totally hired when Greg and I renew our vows…hopefully you like to travel cause we’re thinking of Mexico!!!
I particularly love the pic of the groom under the light at the end of the evening and the one with him on his knee – love the ‘vintag-y’ feel of that one!
You are awesome Ms. V!!!

Dianne - Bunny Trails - October 14, 2010 - 11:35 pm

Oh my gosh, Victoria, these are FABULOUS!! I love them! The vintage shot is stunning and the kilt, flowers, and hi-tops is just an amazing shot. You really rocked this, my friend! 🙂

Tara - October 14, 2010 - 11:17 pm

Love them – you really capture the spirit of a person. What lucky couples to have you freeze these moments in time. I wish I could go back and have you photograph Bob and my wedding!

Elisa - October 14, 2010 - 10:26 pm

Victoria,

I love, love, love the bouquet, kilt, and red hi-tops shot, not just because it captures so much of what the bride and groom wanted to include in the details of their special day, or how the colors repeat, but your crop. It is fantastic. Bravo!
The buggy pics are great, and I also think the first buggy shot and the B&W shot of the couple are so natural, and very intimate. Wonderful candid moments.
Great job!

David - October 14, 2010 - 10:23 pm

Victoria, you rock! What more to say? Congratulations. You own photography.

Motti - October 14, 2010 - 8:57 pm

Good of you to post something after so long 🙂

very nice! The lighting, the expressions. Everything is captured really beautifully. I like the available light photo of the groom.

Morrie - October 14, 2010 - 8:12 pm

Nice series… gotta love those shoes 🙂

Karine - October 14, 2010 - 7:54 pm

I love the pictures of Ashley and Stephen, the red and white bouquet also make for an excellent colour contrast. I always like to see a couple with an edge, and this couple, with the kilt and the converse was just fun to see. Great pics Victoria, can’t wait to see more. I would love to see some sepia shots in the future.

Karine

Melissa - October 14, 2010 - 7:33 pm

Absolutely Gorgeous shots! I love the 2nd pic by the buggy as well as well as the bouquet/shoes and the individual shots! Very classy pics while still being fun!

Bob - October 14, 2010 - 7:26 pm

Nice job Victoria! Love your “perspective”! Great shots!

Stephane Brazeau - October 14, 2010 - 7:25 pm

10×10 Challenge, Shooting Nudes & My 1st Vernissage

In 2007 Stephane Brazeau, a new member of the Lakeshore Camera Club proposed a revolutionary idea for a friendly competition for club members.  It was based on the Naked in the House competition, but since Steph was new and all, he dared not propose that we use nude models!  The LCC version would involve fully […]

Wow. Kudos for being so brave. I think this is an amazing and somewhat terrifying idea! I really like your second photo… the reflection on the window almost makes it look like she has wings you can barely see… Though I couldn’t begin to guess which is your fav. 🙂

A. Rios - September 16, 2010 - 2:18 pm

Amazing! what a great challenge! Your photos are all amazing. I ♥♥♥ the first two.

**…..RELIEVED that the model was a woman… I think I would have spent 30 minutes blushing and looking at the floor if it had been a man…. **

I would’ve run away as fast as possible! : )

Sachin Khona - September 14, 2010 - 6:25 pm

The reflections add to the story, her expression is perfect and the composition you’ve given it works really well..

It’s definitely my favourite shot of the set

Victoria - September 14, 2010 - 5:22 pm

LOL Sachin, you got one out of three! I thought the last shot was OK, the first is the one I really liked and the second (looking out the window) was the experiment… I could only use one lens and no polarizer, so I found the reflections a little distracting, but surprisingly, I got a lot of great feedback about that image and the emotion it evokes.

My mom actually had an entire back story worked out for that window shot: The girl had just broken up with her boyfriend, he drove off in a hurry, she was looking out the window, hoping he would return, lamenting their lost love… Now you know where I get my imagination from 🙂

Sachin Khona - September 14, 2010 - 5:12 pm

Fantastic shots Victoria.. I really love the second one.. Just beautiful

”When it was all over, I had at least one shot that I really, really liked, another that I thought was OK and a third that was an experiment that could have been better excuted… Can you tell which is which?”

Is the experiment the first?
The one you really like the second?
and the one you think is ok the third?

Apologies if im wrong.. just wanted to take a stab at the quiz..

Cant say no to a quiz!!

Take care Victoria!

Sachin

Stopped by the Gallery on Saturday and saw all the great shots. Yours (the girl looking through the window) in my opinion was the shot that showed true emotion. I do not know which image won but this was the best in my opinion.

cassandra-m - September 12, 2010 - 9:40 pm

Beautiful…lovely…very powerful images!!!!

Debby - September 12, 2010 - 9:35 pm

WOW! I really loved the first and the third picture! Great job! I think I would have been nervous too

Melissa - September 12, 2010 - 8:27 pm

This is an impressive post and so far outside your typical subjects. My only suggestion for your next challenge would be to start practicing counting to 10 – my kids can help you out if you like! Great job and congratulations again for taking another huge step in your career!

Hey Victoria! Great pictures! The last one is gorgeous, really tender, dreamy, romantic. Also really love the 2 pictures of Laura+Billy where you put the black/white one + color one next to each other: great snapshots, love Laura’s pose in the color one, the way she holds the bouquet and how she looks at Billy, love your perspective and the way you framed it.

Nicole - September 7, 2010 - 1:47 pm

Just beautiful! I’m still going through the videos from the event now. Loving every minute of it and learning so much.
